bearer17

Working with the contrast again.  Using it a bit differently with this guy.  I dry brushed the skin after the initial coats and then did another highlight after the warts and other gobbly-gook was done.

Deathshroud1

This is a guy I’ve been working on for a few weeks now.  The contrast paints came out and I decided to finish him off.  I think this one has too many colors on him and he looks a bit muddled, but I’m definitely happy with him.

CONTRAST!!!!!!!

So....  I went and bought all of them yesterday......A bit over the top, but Hey ‘it’s me’.

This guy was based in my normal Zandri dust spray.  I then coated him with plaguebearer flesh on the skin, voluptuous pink for the guts and flesh tears, and skeleton horde for the bones and teeth and claws.  I then highlighted with ogryn camo on the skin, pink horror on the guts and tears, the pimples got repainted with wraithbone base and then dabbed with gryph-hound orange and then highlighted with yriel yellow.  The sword was painted with warp lightning first and then second coated with basilicanum grey.  Based and rim painted, and nurgle rotted up.

Not too shabby and looks very close to what I’ve been doing.  The difference is that this took about 1 1/2 hours total time from start to finish.  These things are turning into the answer I’ve been looking around for.

I’m going to keep playing and letting you all know the outcomes.

Necromunda door2

I was trying a new track for this one.  Started basing it with incubi darkness base spray.  This is to get the subterranean algae look going from the start.  The chipping effect didn’t go as well as I would like, but it sharpened up nicer than when I started.  More to work on I guess.  On the next few, I’m going to be adding a bit of moss and fungi looks to them.

This one is going to be played with tonight, so we’ll see how it looks.

getting to the end of this boxed set rather quickly.  I’ll glue them together into a fashionable set when I get done painting all of them and do a table shot soon.  Really loving all of the weather effects,

Moon base STC1

In the effort to make cooler looking terrain, I have dug these pieces out from dustyness and am going to be liberally playing around with the technical paints and colors.  Soooooo much more of the patina and rust colors on this than others I’ve been doing.  I also found a really cool trick for drippy wash effects without overdoing it.  I shaded this model upside down and then flipped it while it was drying.  The shade fell and dripped nicely without any extra brush manipulating thus.........  Weathered on the top and gritty on the bottom without having to do a mud effect.

Anyho.......

Ruins tan4

I was playing around with the patina a little more liberally on this one.  There is also an emphasis on dark to light a bit more from the bottom(darker and grittier) to the top (more faded out from wind and weather).  Not actually sure that I did either of those things effectively.......but I did try to.

Anyho......
